Along with long-term symptoms of fatigue and anxiety, the former journalist cannot slow her heart rate even when she sleeps.

The best way to be protected against Covid-19 is to get a booster shot.

Covid booster jabs protect against the latest Omicron variant and offer the best chance of weathering the pandemic, health officials have repeatedly said.

Charlotte wrote on Twitter: “Since Covid 3.5 weeks ago my heart rate has been constantly high.

“My Garmin tells me every day that I've had 'almost no rest moments.'

“I'm reading. I'm meditating. I'm exercising. I'm sleeping. I even made the horrible choice to give up coffee! How long will it take for this to go away.”

Others were quick to say that they too experienced a faster heart rate after a Covid-19 infection, an extremely rare side effect.

One patient wrote: 'I had the same Charlotte.

“I also had Covid about four weeks ago and have had a high heart rate and palpitations ever since.

“Doctor said it should happen in time, but ran more tests to check and be safe.”

Covid patients are known to experience a higher heart rate after an infection.

But this is very rare and likely an immune reaction, rather than damage to the heart itself, the British Heart Foundation told us news.com.
