A crying seal pup is discovered all alone in the middle of Nantucket ROAD as friendly passersby help guide the 'spirited' animal to safety, despite the adorable creature being 'very wobbly'

An adorable three-week-old seal pup has been rescued on Nantucket Island after kind strangers found it in the middle of the road.
The wayward pup was spotted by a driver on a road near Sesachacha Pond around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The Good Samaritan contacted the Mammal Alliance Nantucket, who arrived as the seal went down a hill near the road into the brush.
The three-person rescue team managed to cover the animal with a towel, carry it up the hill and place it in an airplane crate.
“After a bit of fiddling around, we safely placed the healthy boy in a crate and transported him to a safe place in Quidnet where he can rest in full view of the sea and go outside when he is rested and ready,” the wrote Alliance in a Facebook post.

“He was a feisty booger,” Pam Murphy, the organization's board president, told the Boston Globe.
“He definitely gave me some trouble because he was very wobbly,” she explained.
Murphy said there were “no obvious injuries” and that the animal, which had been placed in “a nice secluded spot near a snow fence,” had gone back into the water on Friday.
Although seal rescues in Nantucket are common this time of year, Murphy said the rescues on Polpis Road were “damn far” from the ocean, and well beyond her usual calls.

The island's pupping season runs from November to January, when seals are born.
After three weeks, they are self-sufficient and wondering solo, Murphy said.
However, the young birds can often “become disoriented” while looking around for their mother, she explained.
“I wouldn't be surprised if some of this madness of little pups making it outside the ocean is due to the stormy seas we've been having,” she added.
Nantucket is currently under a coastal flood warning and a wind advisory that remains in effect until 7:00 PM on Sunday.
