Wembley fire: Massive blaze erupts in London apartment block, residents evacuated as 125 firefighters battle inferno
A massive fire has broken out in a block of flats in west London.
About 125 firefighters battle the Elm Road inferno, Wembleywhile locals were forced to evacuate their homes.
The fire now appears to be largely under control, but there are still 25 fire engines on site.
Footage showed smoke pouring from the building and flames tearing through several flats as firefighters on ladders sprayed water over the building.
The London Fire Brigade said there were no reports of injuries, but part of the roof of the building was on fire.
Their statement read: “People are advised to avoid the area while crews respond.
“One of the brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders is being used as a water tower to help extinguish the fire.
“Control officers received eight calls regarding the fire, the first of which was received at 4.42pm.
“Firefighters from Wembley, Park Royal, Northolt and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.”
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
