I’m a sleep expert: the exact date you should change your duvet for spring

THE benefits of a good night’s sleep can never be overstated as not getting enough chicken has been linked to several health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and dementia.

And our environment can have a huge impact on the quality of our sleep, which is why most Brits are proud of their bedroom.

It is also the reason why thousands of people have different duvets for winter and summer.

Reducing the speed during the warmer months can help you sleep through the night and stay asleep as it keeps you cooler.

But what if you don’t know exactly when to replace your warm winter duvet with a lighter version?

Luckily, James Higgins, CEO of Ethical Bedding, has the answer.

“When we looked at the data, there were a few factors that made it visibly clear when it might be a good time to replace your duvet cover,” he said.

“From a winter thickness of 10.5 to 15 togs to a summer thickness of about five to seven togs.

“First, in monitoring spring midnight temperature trends over the past five years, we have observed a significant temperature increase in the second week of May.

“Additionally, by examining the daily distribution of May temperatures at midnight, we found that May 9 is the average date on which temperatures consistently returned above 10 degrees Celsius in the days that followed.”

That means May 9 is the best day to get your spring duvet out of the closet.

Or you can do it a day earlier if you want to get ahead of the curve.

“In high summer, when the weather becomes almost unbearable and the evenings become damp and uncomfortable, consider swapping your regular duvet for one that offers a cooler sleep,” continued James.

“Otherwise you risk staying awake all night, feeling sweaty and having trouble falling asleep.

“Choose a summer tog duvet with a rating of four and a half or less, which counteracts high temperatures by allowing body heat to escape while you sleep.

“If the weather is not that warm, a duvet of seven to nine may be more suitable.

“Bamboo duvets are an excellent choice for any season.

“They are breathable and comfortable, and each bamboo-filled duvet is also resistant to dust mites and mold, making them ideal if you’re looking for hypoallergenic bedding,” he said. The mirror.
