Is Yahoo Mail offline? Problems, malfunctions and errors explained

THOUSANDS of Yahoo users appear to be unable to access their emails due to a mysterious problem failure.

A huge wave of complaints was picked up by the Down Detector site just after 1.30pm GMT.

Is Yahoo Mail offline?

Yahoo Mail appears to be offline according to users writing on social media.

More than 5,000 alerts were picked up by Down Detector in Britain, but only about a hundred were recorded from the US, so it may not be a global problem.

A slight increase was reported for Yahoo in general and AOL, which are owned by the same company.

The latest issue occurred around 1:30 PM GMT on February 23, 2024.

Users took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain that the site wasn’t loading properly and sought answers from the company.

“Is anyone else having problems with Yahoo account on iPhone?” wrote one user.

“Mine keeps shutting down as soon as I open it in the app. I have no idea how to fix this, does anyone know?”

“Yahoo email app not working on iPhone. Just close.”

Yahoo has told X that it is investigating the issue.

“Some users may experience issues with the Yahoo Mail app,” the company said.

“We are investigating and will update as necessary.”

How can I check if Yahoo is offline?

Those who may experience problems with it Yahoo can consult another social media app, such as X or Facebook, for reports.

If you don’t have an X account, Down Detector will notify users when the apps are unavailable or experiencing issues.

If it appears that the problem is not widespread, check the internet connection on your device or quit the app before logging in again.

When have there been Yahoo outages before?

Other Yahoo outages have been reported in the past, including:

July 2021: Yahoo’s email service was down for about two hours around 3:30 p.m.
February 2021: Users reported issues in both Yahoo’s app and site.
January 2021: More than 55 percent of people were unable to log into their email or read their email.
September 2020: Users had issues logging into the platform, with most notifications occurring at 7 p.m.
