The mother of one of the stabbing victims in Nottingham has said the families felt ignored by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Mrs. Webber told it BBC breakfast: “The CPS used the word consulted. That is not consultation.

“What we got was a fait accompli.

“We had a lot of concerns that were largely ignored.

“Our police team has led us to believe that 'it's murder, we've got him, he's going down'.”

Calocane was given a hospital order for manslaughter due to reduced responsibility at Nottingham Crown Court.

He stabbed Barnaby to death and… Grace O'Malley-Kumarboth 19, and Ian Coates65.

A review announced by Attorney-General Victoria Prentis will look into the CPS's decision to accept Calocane's pleas.

Grace O'Malley-Kumar's father, Dr Sanjoy Kumar, said having to continue campaigning for assassination charges had made the “grief worse” and “taken away the energy”.

Who was Barnaby Webber?

In June 2023, a knifeman stabbed three innocent people in Nottingham.

Valdo Calocane stabbed students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, both 19, and caretaker Ian Coates, 65.

Barnaby Webber was a 19-year-old “passionate cricketer” who had made the squad for his university cricket team with friend Grace.

On the day of the incident, Barnaby and Grace strolled down the street and turned to talk to each other with animated arms as they headed home after a night out.

But tragically, the teens never returned to their university building.

After the horrific incident, in June 2023, Barnaby's mother shared memories of her 'beautiful boy' at a vigil in Nottingham, telling mourners 'have no hatred'.

Barnaby's heartbroken mother Emma told the sea of ​​people that the “monstrous person” responsible for the horrific deaths “will not define us”.

Speaking courageously and fighting back tears, she said, “I know he will get the retribution he deserves.

“However, this evil person is exactly that. He's just one person.

“Please do not harbor hatred related to any color, gender or religion.

“I want you to know [that Barnaby] is more than a victim of a senseless murder.
