The ball is now in Danger!to leave the court Emma Stone compete on the iconic game show.
“[Jeopardy! is] my favorite show,” Stone, 35, said on the Thursday, Jan. 11 episode Variety's Awards Circuit podcast. “That is my dream… I apply every year in June.”
The round table, which consisted of Clayton Davis, Jenelle Riley, Jazz Tangcay And Michael Schneider, was shocked to hear that Stone wasn't asked to be on the quiz show, especially the celebrity version. Viewers of the beloved series know that the star-studded spinoff, which raises money for charity, has fewer challenging questions and easy lines — and that's not enough to fulfill Stone's lifelong dream.
“I don't want to go any further Celebrity Danger!the actress explained. “I really want to earn my stripes. I would like to go further in real life Danger!”
Stone said she took the infamous one with her Danger! test several times, but don't know how she performed.
“You can only do it once a year with your email address. So every June I take the quiz and they don't tell you how you did,” she said. “They just say, 'We'll let you know in the next nine to 12 months if you've been on the show.' And guess what, I didn't attend the show.
While Stone isn't sure what's stopping her from being asked to be a contestant, she thinks she can handle the pressure depending on how much Danger! she consumes.
“I watch it every night and write down how many answers I get right,” Stone revealed. “I swear, I could go on Danger!”
Danger! is currently in its 40th season and remains one of the longest-running game shows in TV history. In recent years the series has been presented by former champions Ken Jennings who took over next to him Mayim Bialik after the death of an old host Alex Trebek in 2020. Bialik, 48, revealed in December 2023 that she had been let go as one of the hosts.
“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Danger!she wrote at the time via Instagram. “I am incredibly honored to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy for hosting this year and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Danger! family. To all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America's Favorite Quiz Show, thank you.”
After her shock departure, Jennings, 49, admitted he was surprised by her firing.
“It blew me away because I loved working with my Mayim and I'm going to miss her,” Jennings said The Hollywood Reporter that same month. “I can't talk about her decision-making process or her views on it.”
