Putin’s main gas pipeline was rocked for the second time in months by a huge mysterious explosion, sending a fireball into the sky
VLADIMIR Putin’s main gas pipeline has been rocked by a huge mysterious explosion for the second time in ten months.
Images show the massive fireball from the explosion on the Yamburg-Yelets 1 main supply line in the Khanty-Mansi region of Siberia, Russia.
The glow of the inferno and the column of smoke were visible for miles.
The cause of the explosion is under urgent investigation and comes amid a series of sabotage attacks on key Russian energy facilities linked to the war in Ukraine.
Kiev rarely claims responsibility for such strikes.
The powerful inferno was located near the village of Lykhma, 480 kilometers north of the Siberian capital Khanty-Mansiysk.
The pipeline delivers gas from the Yamal Peninsula in Northern Siberia to European Russia.
Reports said there were no casualties in the remote explosion.
The gas pipeline had to be cut, endangering supplies to European Russia.
Russian gas exports have fallen sharply since the start of the war against Ukraine.
A previous explosion on the same pipeline in May 2023 killed two people and injured three.
