Wall Street Journal reporter Gershkovich has already spent more than 300 long and painful days behind bars.

He was pictured today staring from a cage at the Moscow court.

The judge decided to reject his complaint about the extension of his pre-trial detention until March 30 over allegations of espionage that he denies, the court's press service said.

He now remains in the custody of an infamous one Moscow prison until at least the end of March, where he is being held on trumped-up charges.

The brave Gershkovich was detained by the Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg on March 29, 2023 on false charges of espionage.

PutinThe spy service of the Russian Federation claimed that the reporter, acting on behalf of the US side, collected secret information about the Russian military-industrial complex.

However, Russian officials not yet provided some evidence to publicly support their claims.

Both Gershkovich and the Journal strongly deny the allegations Washington states that he was wrongfully arrested.

He has made repeated calls to secure his freedom, but so far these have all been rejected.

The journalist is the first Western reporter to be jailed in Russia for espionage since the Soviet era, and if convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison.
