Andy Cohen thinks there is room for improvement The Real Housewives of New York City.
“I think there were some areas of growth and I think those will be addressed next season,” Cohen, 55, said exclusively We weekly of the Bravo series’ 14th season on Tuesday, January 9.
The latest episode of RHONYwhich premiered in July 2023, featured an all-new cast: Sai DeSilva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank And Brynn Whitfield.
Cohen thinks the cast has caused a stir, along with bringing back OG cast members Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy in December 2023 – are “two of the riskiest things” Bravo has done during his time at the network.
“That was something that kept me awake at night and I was incredibly relieved by the reception and also by the grace that people gave, because the original RHONY Women were just a kiss from the chief and they had a special place in people’s hearts,” he said Us.
Cohen added that he was “very happy” with the outcome of RHONY Legacywho played a leading role Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Sonja Morgan And Kristen Taekmanat.
The new group, meanwhile, tried not to compare itself to the Real Housewives that came earlier.
“I understand that these women are iconic and always will be. But it was a different time,” Lyons, 55, said during a group interview with Vanity fair in July 2023. “It was a different group of people. It was a different setting. So my tendency is not to try to compare.”
Lichy, 36, agreed that while she found the original show “hysterical” and had “the utmost respect for all those women,” she felt it was time for a change.
“I feel like we’ve reached a point where evolution can no longer continue because it’s just kind of stagnating. [It was] the same thing over and over,” she argued.
That RHONY has been given a new start, Cohen himself is taking a new path. The television personality spoke with Us about his New Year’s resolutions for 2024 and Walmart’s “Save Your Resolutions” campaign, which is designed to help consumers stick to their goals for the coming year.
“The second week of January is the time when people abandon their good intentions. In fact, the second week of January there’s a day called National Quitter’s Day, so I’ve partnered with Walmart Plus,” Cohen said. “We’re trying to get you to keep your resolutions, and if you sign up for Walmart plus, it’s the ultimate savings membership. It will save you time and money on things like free grocery delivery, free shipping, discounts on fuel, all these ways to give you a kick start and save your New Year’s resolutions. … If you sign up for Walmart plus before the end of January, you get $50 in Walmart cash, so who’s going to say no to that?”
As for Cohen’s New Year’s resolutions, he focuses on “less phone time, more patience on family outings, healthier sleep [and] limiting drinking.”
