Mike Tindall has cheekily revealed he calls Prince William ‘One Pint Willy’ because ‘he’s not the best drinker’ and it’s not the only affectionate nickname circulating in the royal family.

If the rumors are true, there are some bizarre and rather unexpected nicknames: the late Queen Elizabeth is called “Gary” and Prince George is called “PG Tips.”

Another more flattering nickname for the Prince of Wales is ‘Big Willy’, which was apparently Kate’s name for her husband when they were in the first flush of romance in the early 2000s.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s memoir Spare revealed how he called his brother Willy when the pair spoke, while his sibling called him Harold.

Here, Femail reveals some of the other nicknames the Windsors prefer, behind closed doors.

Prince William

Prince William is called ‘One Pint Willy’ by Mike Tindall, who is married to his cousin Zara

Nicknames started for the Prince of Wales at the age of two, as he remembers his mother, Princess Diana, calling him “wombat” during a family trip to Australia.

In 2007, he told NBC’s Matt Lauer, “When we went to Australia with our parents and the wombat, that was the local animal. So basically that’s what I was called. Not because I look like a wombat, or maybe I do.”

According to royal sources, when William and Kate first romanced in 2001, the future king, 36, was nicknamed ‘Big Willy’ by his wife-to-be.

But as their relationship developed into marriage, their nicknames for each other have become even more hilarious.

Kate’s pet name for her husband now appears to be “Prince Baldy,” referring to his thinning crown.

In Harry’s book Spare, it was revealed that the brothers called each other ‘Willy’ and ‘Harold’.

Harry’s nickname for William appeared in the book just before the pair got into a ‘fight’ and William went to get a glass of water in the kitchen. Harry said, “Willy, I can’t talk to you when you’re like this.”

Mike Tindall has also revealed that he calls Prince William ‘One Pint Willy’ because ‘he’s not the best drinker’.

The ex-rugby star from England and his wife Zara made the revelations in a special podcast with rugby league legend Rob Burrow, who is battling motor neurone disease.

When asked by Burrow if he has any nicknames for any of the royals, Mike says: ‘To the Prince of Wales he is known as One Pint Willy.

‘He is known to me as One Pint Willy because he is not the best drinker, coming from a sport that revolves around the social aspect and where a few beers are often drunk. That’s one I’ll give away to the Prince of Wales.’

Zara can be heard laughing before she says, “Oh my god. You’re in so much trouble.’

Kate, Princess of Wales

The Princess of Wales also revealed she was nicknamed ‘Peep’ when she visited her old school, St Andrew’s School in Berkshire.

She said: ‘I was nicknamed Squeak, just like my guinea pig.

‘There was one called Pip and one called Squeak, because my sister was called Pippa and I was called Squeak.’

Prince Philip had one of the most adorable nicknames for the late queen. He regularly referred to her as ‘cabbage’, which was confirmed by the Queen’s biographer, Robert Lacey.

The name was used in a 2006 film called “The Queen,” where a scene showed Prince Philip getting into bed and saying, “Move over, cabbage.”

But one of the most famous names people around her called her was Lilibet, which came about when the queen could not pronounce her own name as a child.

The name then caught on, with even her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, calling her Lilibet, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also named their daughter Lilibet.

Just before her wedding to Charles, Diana found a gold bracelet on the desk of Michael Colborne (Charles’ private secretary) engraved with ‘G’ and ‘F’, presumably for ‘Gladys’ and ‘Fred’.

But there is some dispute about this, as journalist Jonathan Dimbleby, who wrote Prince of Wales: A Biography and also conducted the interview in which Charles admitted to cheating on Diana, said the initials on the infamous bracelet stood for ‘Girl Friday’.

This was another nickname Charles had for Camilla, based on the movie ‘His Girl Friday’, which is about a man trying to win back his ex-wife when he finds out she is about to marry another man. to marry.
