A MOTHER OF THE BRIDE is not keen on her daughter’s choice of wedding date.

She said it’s the day several members of their family died in an accident, but the bride-to-be insists it has meaning for her future wedding in a different way.

Redditor Imaginary_shape9887 posted the details of the tragedy in a post on the social media platform.

She said her mother, brother and cousin were involved in a car accident two years ago.

“My mother died instantly, my brother and cousin died the next day,” she said.

‘My family was small: me, my husband, daughter, parents, brother, wife and two nephews.

“Their loss was devastating to my life and to everyone, even more devastating to my father and my sister-in-law.”

Her 25-year-old daughter received a marriage proposal a year after the accident and immediately started planning the wedding.

“During this process, they chose the date based on the day they met [seven years ago] and that day marks exactly two years since the death of my brother and nephew,” the mother said.

She said she tried to talk her daughter out of the painful date, but she stuck to her guns, saying “all the other dates available aren’t as good and wouldn’t be as important.”

“She’s coming out!” people exclaim when the bride shows off a bling-tastic wedding dress that makes you ‘feel like royalty’

She respected her daughter’s decision, despite the turmoil it brought to the family.

The daughter sent the invitations, but many declined to attend.

“As I predicted, my sister-in-law, my [24-year-old] cousin and my father replied that they would not attend, despite not telling her,” she said.

“My father and sister-in-law told me that the choice of date was an insult to them.”

The daughter called her mother, angry that she had received no response from the majority of her family.

“I said, ‘Dear, this date is hard even for me, but I’m going to your wedding.

“But you have to understand that this choice of date had this consequence and that you would have to deal with the consequences of your choices.”

“She blew up at me and said everyone was against her. It’s not her fault the dates coincided and everyone could be bothered to go for a few hours for her, but they just decided not to go.

“And I actually said, ‘I told you so.’ She hung up without me answering and we still haven’t spoken,” she added.

Several Redditors chimed in on the wedding date blunder in the comments section.

“I’m a little shocked that the daughter isn’t in pain during the date. That was her grandmother, uncle and cousin, and just two years ago. Kind of heartless,” one person wrote.

“The point is that in five years no one other than her, her husband and maybe their parents will remember their wedding date, but they will never forget the date they lost their loved ones,” another added.

A third said: “32 years later I know the date my father died.”
