We are true fairies – we have ‘spectacular’ powers and knew from a young age that we were different

Two fairies in human form have revealed how they learned they were ‘different’ from other humans.

Cornwall-based Karen Kay and fellow fairy Tish McKinley spoke to This Morning presenters – and ordained Alison Hammond into their magic circle in a whimsical ceremony.

The pair explained the intricacies of their supernatural existence and how they first knew about their talents.

“I’ve known it from a very, very young age,” Karen revealed.

“So when I was a little girl, I used to spend time in my grandmother’s garden.

‘She would prune her roses, I gathered all the petals, put them in a little pot and left what I thought was perfume for the flower fairies.

‘It was actually rose water, but it was always drunk every night, so before I knew what a fairy was.

“I saw them as a very young child and they stayed with me.”

Plus, Karen says she’s part mermaid, too.

Meanwhile, Tish McKinley added that she grew up in the United States, but told viewers her grandfather’s mother was from Ireland – explaining that a leprechaun kept her alive.

She says that ‘you just know’ if you are a fairy.

“You just know something isn’t right,” she added. “There’s just something spectacular and different.”

The duo then ordained Alison as a fairy ambassador to the human realm, making her swear an oath to spread light, love, laughter, and joy as they presented her with some wings, a crown, and a wand while a supportive Dermot O’Leary looked on.

Mushrooms and a fog machine created a scenic backdrop for the heartwarming moment.

Tish addressed non-believers, saying that “you didn’t know giraffes until you saw one,” while Karen likened the creatures to love—something that can be felt without being seen.

Both are behind the 3 Wishes Fairy Festival, which takes place at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park in Cornwall from June 16-18.

And excitingly, next year will offer ‘three magical days and nights’ at Glastonbury.

Describing the event – which featured music, activities and even a mermaid lagoon – Karen said, “If you can imagine entering a real fairytale realm, that’s it.”

She also said that fairies form a magical ring around the festival to ensure that everyone in attendance is protected and having fun.

On her Instagram, Karen often shares behind-the-scenes snaps of her whimsical lifestyle, as well as videos of card readings from a mystical fairytale game.
