Michael McIntyre is on the mend! Comedian returns to stage after health problems forced him to cancel two shows – and jokes: ‘I have a stone, but not in the way I thought’
The prankster was back in shape after a successful operation to remove kidney stones.
The ‘excited’ star told a sell-out crowd at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham: ‘I’m not 100 per cent but I’m here and it’s nice to get out of bed!’ to great applause.
The beloved British comedian, looking trim and toned in a black suit and white shirt, gave his first performance since undergoing emergency surgery.
The 48-year-old entertainer – medically cleared by doctors this week – said the excruciating pain of having kidney stones was worse than childbirth, saying: ‘It hurts.’
And he said to the audience who had had babies but did not suffer from his disease: ‘You have no idea what pain is!

Anna Hulewicz-Brown, 58, from Leicester, was treated to her birthday by her son Luke Brown, 28, and said: ‘Michael was absolutely brilliant. He was hilarious.’
He opened his performance with the words: ‘Welcome Nottingham, I have reached this beautiful city.’ and he finished to massive cheers
“It’s the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.”
The star, who also joked about his weight struggles during his 90-minute performance, said: “I’ve lost a stone but not in the way I thought.”
The crowd was in stitches.
McIntyre then went into detail about the symptoms and treatment, saying: ‘For three days I had to urinate every hour. No chance of sex!
“The doctors said you have natural holes and we need to go in and take it out.
“And while I was waiting for surgery, a woman came up to me and started singing The Wheel!”
The comic, looking good, added: ‘Now I’m full of codeine and out of my face. It’s quite fun. I could get used to it!
“I’m getting another kidney stone, it’s fun.”
He opened his performance with the words: ‘Welcome Nottingham, I have reached this beautiful city.’
He ended with massive cheers, beaming:
‘I’m so glad I could come here tonight.
The star wowed the crowd and they were happy that he was fit and well enough to perform after his health problems.

McIntyre, who has been touring Britain on his 50-date MACNIFICENT tour, was forced to postpone performances following surgery at Southampton’s Mayflower Theater and Plymouth Pavilions when he first fell ill.
Fans were quick to wish him a speedy recovery on social media.

Concerned giggoers were unsure if he would be good enough to fill the remaining tour dates.
But in a welcome update on Wednesday, his promoters told Off The Curb: ‘Michael McIntyre has undergone successful surgery to remove kidney stones and is recovering well.
“He has been medically cleared to perform in Nottingham on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is very excited to be back on stage.”
It followed an earlier announcement: ‘We regret to inform customers that Michael McIntyre will not be able to perform at the Mayflower Theater in Southampton on Monday 4 March.
‘Unfortunately, Michael has undergone surgery to remove kidney stones. The show will be rescheduled to a later date, which will be announced soon.
‘Tickets remain valid for the new date. If you are unable to attend on the new date, you are entitled to a refund. We apologize for the inconvenience.’
The comic is also known for hosting Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and the game show The Wheel on the BBC.
The popular McIntyre recently spoke out about his weight struggles.
He previously attended a £4,000-a-week special weight loss clinic to lose more than two stone, but has since turned it back on and developed a fear of apples in the process.
He traveled to Austria to get into better shape and, after undergoing several tests, was told not to eat apples.
He claims he is now afraid to eat the fruit, which he was told would make him ‘drowsy’ and ‘confused’.
But despite successfully losing weight, he is struggling to keep it off now that he is back in Britain because his wife Kitty prefers ‘teddy bear Michael’.
He told The Sun: ‘I went to a place called the Mayr Clinic and lost quite a bit of weight, which I kept up for a while.
‘It was a week of pain and they did all these tests on me, putting little probes on the end of my tongue and telling me not to eat apples.
‘Apparently apples make me very lethargic and confused in my head. It’s actually the only thing I took from it.’
He added that he has now regained the weight he lost and has also developed a fear of apples.
