Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the attack and said the ship was completely destroyed.
One of Vladimir Putin’s most modern warships, the 90-meter patrol vessel Sergey Kotov, was put into service during the war in 2022.
The ship normally has a crew of 80 people, and the fate of those on board remains unclear.
Ukrainian military intelligence said they used their own Magura V5 maritime drones to attack the ship.
The warship “suffered damage to the stern, starboard and port sides”, causing it to sink.
“The Kotov fire defeat took place in the territorial waters of Ukraine, not far from the Kerch Strait.”
This is not the first time that Ukraine has attacked and damaged the ship.
The strike is a major blow to Putin’s crumbling Black Sea Fleet as it would mark the 16th Russian warship that is sunk or destroyed Ukraine.

Military broadcaster Two Majors also acknowledged that the warship had been attacked by a kamikaze sea drones.
The channel denied that there was any damage to the Crimean Bridge.
“One of the targets was the Crimean Bridge. The bridge is fine, the attack has been repelled.”
The bridge is said to have finally reopened after 8 a.m. local time today, ending the nine-hour closure.
