The Waifs have been forced to postpone their 20th anniversary Australian tour after their singer was seriously injured in an e-scooter accident.

Folk rock band frontman Donna Simpson suffered a ‘horrific’ crash while driving the vehicle in Broome, Western Australia.

The accident is said to have occurred after the band’s performance at the Roebuck Bay Hotel in Broome on September 24.

A statement from the band, shared on the band’s Facebook page on Tuesday, explained that some dates for upcoming shows as part of their Up All Night tour had been rescheduled for next year.

Their upcoming November 10 gig in Geelong has been moved to March 8, but the band will play California’s Day On The Green festival as planned in December.

The band’s set at South Australia’s Handpicked Festival this weekend will go ahead, but without Donna.

‘I’m sorry to miss everyone at Handpicked this weekend, but I’m confident my little sister, Josh, Dave and Ben will give you all a wonderful set without me. Not as good as my set without her at Blues Fest, but close!’ Donna wrote in the Facebook post.

Donna explained that she has “four broken ribs, two collapsed lungs and a lot of bruises.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Royal Flying Doctors service who got me to Perth quickly and safely,” she continued in the statement.
